Identify who is arranging and performing the shipment

On its website purpose page, A1 says it brokers many services and receives fees for partner referrals. Its footer also identifies it as a disclosed agent for several shipping companies. Get the contracting company’s legal name and role, plus the carrier actually hauling your cart, in writing. A website brand and an assigned carrier are separate checks.

FMCSA directs users to its Licensing and Insurance carrier search for interstate authority and insurance information. Match the legal name and MC/USDOT identifiers on your paperwork to the relevant record. Do not select a similar-name company and assume it is the one accepting your shipment.

The BBB profile linked by A1 lists its Aptos address and accreditation since October 23, 2018, as checked October 10, 2026. BBB also states that it does not endorse businesses or guarantee profile information. Accreditation is not a shipment inspection, cargo policy or promise of on-time delivery.

Compare a written total, not a headline estimate

A1’s golf-cart page, dated August 14, 2026, gives $700–$1,200 for standard open cross-country moves in its FAQ. That is the company’s published range, without a specific booked cart or route. Provide make, model, year, measured height/width/length, weight, lift and roof modifications, running condition, battery chemistry, both addresses and acceptable dates. Ask for these terms together:

• Total charge, deposit and remaining payment; charges for an inoperable cart, storage, redelivery or difficult access.
• Whether the amount is fixed or an estimate, what can change it, and cancellation/refund conditions.
• Pickup window separately from loaded transit time; who handles a missed date.
• Open or enclosed trailer, ramp/winch capability and any height or loading limits.
• Named carrier and written battery acceptance before dispatch.

For a chosen example, a $5,000 cart with $900 transport and $100 handling costs $6,000 delivered before purchase tax or repairs. The $1,000 logistics cost adds 20% to the cart price. Battery acceptance can change the move

The cart model, carrier, route and eventual outcome were not supplied. Other commenters described different experiences. This documents one owner’s booking obstacle; it is not an A1 shipment report or a universal prohibition on lithium carts.

Disclose the exact battery before accepting a transport offer. Get the cart manufacturer’s transport instructions and the accepting carrier’s requirements for charge level, isolation, operating switches and loading. A loose traction battery may need a different shipment plan; do not improvise removal or assume a household mover and a vehicle hauler accept the same equipment.

Establish coverage and document condition

A1 advertises standard cargo insurance. Ask for the assigned carrier’s certificate and relevant terms: per-load/per-vehicle limits, deductible, accessory coverage, exclusions, claim notification deadlines and who handles the claim. Its website terms concern website use and third-party services; they do not substitute for the transport order, bill of lading or cargo policy.

Before pickup, photograph the cart, roof, windshield, wheels and fixed accessories. Record existing damage on the pickup report and keep a copy. Remove personal belongings and deal with loose accessories as the carrier directs. At delivery, compare the cart with those records and document any difference before signing the condition report.

Choose the service whose written scope fits your cart, route and timing. Published options and a broad price range are a starting point; the named carrier, accepted battery and actual contract make the offer assessable.
