Jekyll Island Golf Cart Laws (2026)

Jekyll Island is one of Georgia's four Golden Isles and is owned and managed by the Jekyll Island Authority, a state agency. Golf carts (classified as Personal Transportation Vehicles or PTVs under Georgia law) are a popular way to explore the island's beaches, historic district, and nature trails. Glynn County requires PTV registration ($15 every 5 years) with a decal displayed on the driver's side. Carts are allowed on streets with speed limits of 25 mph or less and must be equipped with brakes, reflectors, horn, rearview mirror, seat belts, and handholds. The beach and bicycle paths are off-limits to golf carts.

• Bicycle paths - run throughout the island but are off-limits to golf carts
