High Point, Florida, golf carts can now operate at night on 40 county roads listed in the adopted resolution. Hernando County commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2026-178 on September 22, 2026, extending existing daytime permission to properly equipped carts between sunset and sunrise. The resolution took effect immediately upon adoption.
Golf Cart Search counted 40 distinct road names in the signed resolution's original Exhibit A and reviewed Section 8, which allows county officials to approve omitted roads or later additions. An unlisted street needs county approval before it joins the designated list.
The Hernando Sun's October 1 report independently confirms the September 22 approval.
Which High Point roads are listed for nighttime golf carts?
The adopted exhibit contains the following 40 names. The table follows its three-column order and retains the county's spellings, including Evantide Avenue, Nielson Avenue, and Highpoint Boulevard.

Our count is 15 + 15 + 10 = 40, using every nonempty road-name cell once. The sample is one adopted resolution, reviewed October 2, 2026. It counts named roads, not miles or individual roadway segments, and does not establish a total after later county-approved additions. The road list and counting methodology are available as downloadable data.
Can an unlisted High Point road be added?
Section 8 of Resolution No. 2026-178 authorizes the county administrator or designee and the Department of Public Works to approve another county-maintained road within High Point. That covers a road inadvertently omitted from the exhibit or one later determined suitable for golf cart operation.
Officials must determine that the road is within the community and meets the suitability requirements of Florida law. An added road receives the same conditions as the original list. Location within High Point alone does not complete that approval.
The public records reviewed for this article did not establish any later additions. Owners checking a street absent from the table should distinguish the original exhibit from any subsequent county-approved version.
What does a High Point golf cart need for night use?
Section 3 requires carts operated under the resolution to have operational headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield at all times. Florida's other golf cart equipment requirements continue to apply.
Florida Statutes Section 316.212 also requires efficient brakes, reliable steering, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices at the front and rear. Drivers under 18 need a valid learner's driver license or driver license; drivers 18 or older need valid government-issued photographic identification.
The county's agenda item describes yearly cart registration and equipment inspections through the High Point community and High Point Golf Club. The property owners association's current announcement also ties day-and-night use to carts registered with the community and club offices.
The resolution retains traffic and DUI rules and requires yielding as the law directs. A failed brake light needs attention before nighttime use; our brake light troubleshooting guide covers common causes.
Does the approval extend beyond High Point?
The resolution authorizes use on the designated county roads within High Point. It grants no general permission to drive a golf cart elsewhere in Hernando County or to extend a trip onto an unlisted road. Our Florida golf cart law guide explains how local road designation works across the state.
This is an operating-hours change for golf carts. It does not change a vehicle's classification to a registered low-speed vehicle. The LSV vs. golf cart guide explains the separate requirements for those vehicles.
Section 5 authorizes Public Works to install and maintain signs needed to implement the resolution. Its effective date is adoption, but the public sources reviewed did not verify completed sign installation or provide an installation date.
