Best Cities to Buy a Golf Cart: Dealer Data (2026)

Naples and Sarasota have the largest primary for-sale listing counts in this historical directory analysis: ten each. Key West, Myrtle Beach and South Padre Island have nine. These are places to build a contact list; counts do not establish current inventory, lowest prices or the best cart for your needs.

What we measured

The August 30, 2026 Git-preserved GolfCartSearch snapshot contains 1,374 raw directory entries, 640 recorded city/state groups and 102,905 recorded reviews. Its primary categories are 488 for-sale, 501 repair and 385 rental. Those are historical recorded totals, not a census of U.S. businesses or unique customers.

For the reproducible U.S. shortlist, we:

1. Excluded entries labeled British Columbia or Ontario, then expanded the recorded CA, CO, FL, NJ, OK, TX and WA state abbreviations to their full names.
2. Trimmed outer whitespace and compared city/state text without case. We did not merge boroughs, neighboring towns or differently spelled city aliases into metropolitan markets.
3. Collapsed exact matching business-name/address pairs, after trimming and case folding, keeping the first entry in ascending ID order. This removed three duplicate rows; conflicting duplicate categories were not independently resolved. Other possible duplicates remain unverified.
4. Counted one primary category for each retained entry and selected groups with at least three primary for-sale entries. Sorting uses for-sale count descending, then state and city alphabetically for ties. Rentals, repair counts, ratings and reviews do not change the order.

The cleaned U.S. analysis has 1,363 retained entries across 627 city/state groups: 485 for-sale, 494 repair and 384 rental; 55 groups meet the three-for-sale threshold. Zero primary repair entries does not mean zero repair service. A selling or renting business may also repair carts. Likewise, a rental entry does not establish fleet turnover, used-sale stock or the willingness to service your model. Contact the business about the specific vehicle and job.

These are all 39 additional groups with three to five for-sale entries, preserving the same historical scope:

• 3 for-sale listings: Decatur, Alabama; Huntsville, Alabama; Mobile, Alabama; Prescott Valley, Arizona; Santa Barbara, California; Miramar Beach, Florida; Ormond Beach, Florida; Panama City, Florida; The Villages, Florida; Wildwood, Florida; Macon, Georgia; Branson, Missouri; Brooklyn, New York; New York, New York; Charleston, South Carolina; Lexington, South Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Waco, Texas.

Cities outside the threshold can still have a suitable dealer. Coverage gaps, classifications and unmerged city aliases can change counts; use the current dealer directory and repair directory to build a practical travel radius.

A local operating example: Key West

On October 10, 2026, Fun Rentals Downtown Key West advertises four- and six-seat rental carts and describes two on-island locations. This first-party operating information supports a narrow example of rental activity. It does not verify every historical rental entry, local demand magnitude, trade-in availability or purchase prices. Operator's page.

A rented or formerly rented cart still needs its own condition, battery/engine, service-history and paperwork checks. Do not infer hard use, excellent maintenance or a particular replacement cycle merely from a coastal address or a rental listing.

For a Florida LSV purchase, equipment is only part of road eligibility. The current statute requires title, registration, insurance and a valid driver license, restricts ordinary LSV operation to roads posted at 35 mph or less subject to its crossing provision, and allows local/DOT prohibitions. This is not approval for every Key West route or for a standard golf cart. Florida Statutes 316.2122. Check state and local rules for the actual route.

Turn a city shortlist into comparable offers

Ask more than one available seller for the same configuration and an itemized total: vehicle, battery/charger, accessories, preparation, freight, delivery, tax and mandatory fees. The directory did not measure quote competition or negotiated savings.

Before traveling, confirm the particular cart is available and that someone near home will accept its exact brand/model for warranty and paid service. Price collection/transport and identify who authorizes claims. A seller several hours away may still be useful when those arrangements are documented; the city count alone cannot decide that.
