Electric RXV 4: automatic parking brake and pedal interlock
Printed page 24 of 10108691-A says to disconnect and store the charger plug, sit in the driver's seat, select F or R with the key and apply the accelerator slowly. The vehicle must be in Run for driving.
Its high-pedal disable prevents acceleration if either pedal is pressed during key-on. The described reset is to remove both feet from the pedals before accelerator input. Use this only once the cart is securely stopped, the driver is seated and the path is clear; do not release the service brake on a rolling or unrestrained cart.
The automatic parking brake releases for movement. Tow/Run switching and recovery belong to the manual's separate procedure. Do not use Tow as a daily reset or remove chocks before restoring a secure brake state.
Gas RXV EX1 EFI: hold the brake while starting
Printed page 17 of 10036460-E instructs the driver to sit down, hold the brake, switch the key on, select the intended direction and apply the accelerator gradually. Keep the brake applied until the engine has started to avoid rollback. Releasing the accelerator de-energizes the ignition on this documented system.
This is a fuel-injected EX1 example, not a reason to hunt for a choke. Avoid immediate full-throttle acceleration when cold. The manual warns against running the engine in an enclosed area because of carbon monoxide. Starting outdoors avoids guessing whether a garage is adequately ventilated.
Yamaha G16: the gas choke is model-specific
Printed page 7-1 of LIT-19626-16-00 begins with the parking brake applied and the drive selector in the intended direction. Turn the main switch on with the accelerator released. For a cold G16A gas engine, use the choke and release it after starting; the manual says it is unnecessary when warm. Check the path and press the accelerator slowly. Accelerator input also releases this model's parking-brake latch.

A real fault report: repeated resets did not repair it
On August 19, 2026, Cartaholics member Kscarts described a 2017 lead-acid RXV that ran for about five minutes, then stopped with wheel lockup and a burning smell. A scanner showed an HPD sequencing fault. The owner said replacing the throttle sensor had not fixed it and cycling Tow/Run only allowed temporary operation.
The owner suspected the motor brake, and the thread concerns a different generation from the 2026 manual above. The practical distinction is between a normal startup interlock and a fault recurring during driving. A burning smell or unexpected brake lockup calls for inspection, not more reset attempts.
When the cart does not move
Check the control state before buying parts: the charging plug is stored, the intended direction is selected, the approved operating mode is set and the relevant pedal sequence has been followed. A lit dashboard or battery-bar display doesn't confirm usable battery capacity or that every interlock is satisfied.

Use the service brake to stop fully before changing direction. Confirm the vehicle is secured by its specified parking system, set the prescribed parked control position, turn it off and remove the key before leaving. Do not hold a cart on a slope with accelerator input or assume an unfamiliar automatic brake has engaged.
